Job Description
Position Summary:
The General Accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close by preparing accounting schedules, maintaining journal support documentation, performing reconciliations support and tie-outs, and ensuring audit-ready evidence discipline. The role coordinates with Accounts Payable, Revenue, and Payroll/Expenses teams to resolve routine exceptions impacting close timeliness and data completeness. The position operates under strict segregation of duties (no cash handling, no payment release, no supplier master maintenance, and no self-approval).
Key Responsibilities:
Month-end close support – Prepare assigned close schedules (accrual/deferral support, prepaids, clearing accounts) and submit by close deadlines.
Journal support documentation – Compile and file complete support for journals/entries prepared by designated preparers and route for independent approval (no self-approval).
Reconciliations and tie-outs – Perform subledger-to-schedule tie-outs and clearing account support; document variances and recommended corrective actions.
Exception resolution coordination – Follow up on missing documentation/timing/coding issues with AP, Revenue, and Payroll teams and maintain an exception tracker to closure.
Audit-ready evidence discipline – Maintain organized evidence files and retrieve requested documents/reports for audit sampling with clear traceability.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline (audit-ready mindset).
Working knowledge of accounting schedules and reconciliations and ability to investigate variances.
Ability to manage deadlines and support month-end close in a controlled environment.
Strong coordination and follow-up with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve exceptions.
Excel and ERP reporting capability (Oracle Fusion exposure preferred).
Education and Experience:
Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business (or Diploma with relevant experience).
Experience: Minimum 1–2 years experience in accounting operations or close support role.
Preferred: ERP exposure (Oracle Fusion preferred) and experience in a controlled, documentation-heavy environment; ability to prepare schedules/tie-outs and support audit sampling.
