Wood is recruiting for an HSE Supervisor to join its Iraq business unit focusing on ensuring that O&M activities are performed in strict compliance with applicable HSE laws and regulations.
This role is a full-time on-site role in Basra, Iraq with travel requirement.

Job Objectives:
Health & Safety responsibilities:
- Ensure that O&M activities are performed in strict compliance with applicable HSE laws and regulations, Customer HSE requirements including the defined HSE plan, the defined Emergency response plan, etc.
- Promote Customer Golden Rules, Safety Culture programs and ensure strict compliance
- Monitor the effective implementation of the Permit to Work system and LOTO. Perform regular checks and verifications
- Conduct regular site inspections and audit programs
- Identify potential hazards related to electrical and mechanical systems, working at heights, heavy machinery and weather conditions.
- Perform required risk assessments and verify the implementation of all mitigations. • Ensure timely reporting of all HSE events regardless of severity.
- Record and investigate accidents, near-misses,
- Analyze trends of unsafe acts and conditions.
- Recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Supervise O&M activities, including preventive and corrective maintenance. Verify the efficiency of safety precautions such as lockout/tagout, PPE, fire protection, etc.
- Ensure O&M HSE matrix training follow up
- Maintain HSE dashboards, KPIs, and monthly reports
Environmental and Social (E&S) responsibilities:
- Monitor and report environmental impacts (water usage, waste management).
- Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations, Customer E&S requirements and commitments and sustainability goals.
- Support audits and inspections by internal and external parties

Expected:
- 5+ years HSE experience in industrial/energy/utility environments.
- 2+ years in a supervisory HSE role (or lead HSE responsibilities).
- Diploma/Bachelor in HSE, Engineering, or Environmental discipline.
- NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent).
- Strong HSE reporting skills (KPIs/dashboards/monthly reports; Excel).
Preferred:
- exposure to high-risk work controls: electrical safety, WAH, lifting/heavy equipment, and outdoor extreme-weather operations.
- Experience in solar plants or power utility sites
- ISO 45001/14001 Internal Auditor.
- First Aid/CPR + Fire Safety training.
- Competence in PTW/LOTO verification, risk assessments (JSA/JHA), incident reporting & investigation.
- Basic E&S competence: waste management, spill response, environmental compliance reporting.
