Areeba is seeking a “Senior Accountant” to join its team in Iraq. Responsibilities include overseeing all accounting activities, validating financial operations and ensuring implementation of all relevant accounting policies in compliance with local laws.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
• Ensure implementation of the month-end and year-end closing processes with timely and accurate reporting.
• Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately on all financial interfaces and ERPs including Oracle Fusion.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations and internal controls.
• Coordinate with auditors, Finance Director and the Financial Controller during regular and exceptional audits and ensure timely resolution of any audit findings.
• Ensure proper handling and management of accounts receivables and payables.
• Develop & implement accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Prepare and file relevant tax duties in compliance with local laws.
• Coordinate with Finance Director and the Financial Controller to ensure accurate reporting to the Central Bank.
• Coordinate with Treasury department upon preparation of merchants and suppliers’ transfers.
• Ensure proper accounting records keeping and reporting of financial and settlement transactions.
• Oversee and manage the budget preparation.
• Conduct and report budget to actual variance analysis.
• Manage the payroll process and follow up with the relevant ministry of Labor to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations.
• Proficient in accounting software (Oracle, SAP or similar) and MS Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to details.
• Familiarity in digital payment systems or e-commerce accounting is a plus.
