Areeba is seeking a “Settlement Officer” to join its team in Iraq. Responsibilities include executing settlement and reconciliation tasks, ensuring compliance with scheme and internal controls and supporting the department head in overseeing daily settlement and reconciliation activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily settlement activities for Mastercard and Visa transactions while ensuring accuracy and timeliness in collaboration and coordination with the relevant Finance department.
• Reconcile financial data to identify, report and resolve discrepancies between internal records on various financial interfaces and ERPs and product balances.
• Ensure implementation and continuous monitoring of the processes for both issuing and acquiring settlement files and payments.
• Monitor the flow of funds related to scheme and settlement transactions with the relevant Finance department.
• Investigate, report and resolve any settlement-related issues or discrepancies related to issuing and acquiring settlements.
• Ensure proper accounting records keeping and reporting of financial and settlement transactions.
• Collaborate with IT and compliance teams to address any technical issues and ensure smooth operation of settlement process.
• Assist in developing and implementing new settlement procedures and policies, contributing to the continuous improvement of systems and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position, preferably within the card processing industry or banking sector.
• Good Understanding of Mastercard and Visa settlement processes and card scheme rules.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
• Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards.
